- The Spauldings were prominent local citizens. Bill Spaulding was active in "Dollars for Scholars", and his wife Gertrude in the Friends of Lake Quannapowitt. Her longtime work promoting the conservation and preservation of Lake Quannapowitt earned her the moniker "Lady of the Lake. "
