Houses Torn Down on Lake Avenue: Melrose, Mass.
-
Text written on back: "Houses torn down formerly belonging to Brown, 31 Lake Ave. and to Campbell 39 Lake Ave. Driver - Att'y Selwyn Lynde of 49 Lake Ave.
-
Thomas Callahan, 76 Lake Ave. believes horse was Daisy, purchased by Mr Lynde from the New England Sanitarium (N.E. Memorial Hospital) when they discontinued their horse drawn stage which used to meet the train. Mr. Callahan's father worked for Mr. Lynde and used to drive this horse, which succeeded another horse, Maude. Date of picture not established - he believes about 1915, but height of pond suggests much earlier. George D. Bissell, Jr. M.D." Stamped: Photography by Richard P. Gulla.
