Boylen Square: Melrose, Mass.
-
Location of Boland [sic] Square unknown. Summer of 1938.
-
According to L. Granfield, "This triangle 'island' was located at the intersection of Green and Howard Street near Elm Street. The correct name is Boylen Square. It is a memorial to Private William N. C. Boylen who grew up nearby and was killed in World War I. A redesign of the area (traffic rotary now) meant that the Boylen Memorial stone was moved to a nearby boulevard."
