TRACKS:Where they spent their formative years, Mr. Favaloro spent first four years of his life in the North End of Boston, Mrs. Favaloro has lived in Gloucester all of her life -- Fishing and coral diving was done in Terrasini in the off-season, The Fort was just like where they came from -- Has Gloucester changed much in your life? Not too much -- Primitive plumbing in Gloucester in the early 20th century -- Fish was once 1/2 cents a pound off the boat - today (Sept. 21) fish sold for 90 cents a pound off the boat the spoken language of Sicily is much different from school Italian -- Foods and Fiestas -- The Captain Cosmo - lost off Nova Scotia one week ago, members of the crew are known by Mr. Favoloro, one was a cousin -- Tragedies on board ship -- An example of foods eaten in the course of one day in the old days food was scarce and nourishment sometimes lacking - Meat don't taste the same now -- All the immigrants were poor the West End of Boston destroyed by political forces -- Americanization - They learn fast (a reference to the people arriving now)-- Gesticulation - a Mediterranean mannerism -- Gloucester really was a melting pot -- Men lost on ships out of Gloucester -- Shipbuilding in Essex, ethnic groups involved.
